McMurtry Backpacking Trip

Dear Cowboys,

Safety is our number one priority during our trips, especially while traveling and exploring to us which is the unknown! We believe that each Cowboy and Cowgirl deserves a safe and well prepared trip. Whether we go Hiking, Camping, or Backpacking! That is why we are reaching out to each and everyone of you for your help.

Our end goal is to have safety equipment, high end first aid kits and other important needs.

1.Safety equipment: A few things involving safety equipment can look like: Navigational tools and whistles for communication from a distance. Shelters, as well as rain gear and necessary nutrition, a compass or a multi-tool, even sun blockers are important. All of these items listed above gets us one step closer to ensuring the safety of each and every Hiker.

2. First aid kits: These are an extremely crucial part on our journey through The Long Mile to really ensure the safety of our hikers. The outdoors is equipped with many things that some are unaware of and it can get pretty brutal. OSU HIKING CLUB would like your help in ensuring the safety of our hikers all the way from a scratch to a snake bite. We will be prepared for anything, with your help.

3. Traveling resources: We aim to educate our hikers with proper Safety Protocols, Emergency Contacts, and what the next best thing to do is while on the move.

4. Engaging Speakers: With the help from you guys we will be able to bring in actual safety experts and have them run a short course on protocols. They will provide you with tips, advice, and of course experience with travel safety.

Every donation, no matter how small, will bring us one step closer to reaching our end goal. Together, we can give everyone a safe, prepared trip that will not only inspire, but empower those Hikers everywhere on campus.

Will my PhilanthroPete gift be tax-deductible?

Yes. Each gift will receive a receipt for your contribution. If you selected a perk with an associated benefit, the fair-market value will be deducted from your gift when applicable. We generate a gift receipt and send it you for tax purposes usually within the week we receive your gift.
