A student organization from Oklahoma State University needs your support of their goal to participate in the Bataan Death Memorial March on March 20th, 2016 in New Mexico.
This memorial march is 26.2 miles long through the mountains and rough terrain with "heavy" teams wearing a 35lb pack the entire time. The march honors the thousands of American and Filipino soldiers that died in 1942 as they were forced to march through the Philippine jungles in scorching heat. Although we can't know the pain and suffering these veterans endured, the mental fortitude and stamina required to complete the march will push us to our limits and teach us how to continue past those limits. During the most trying times of the march, we will contemplate those heroes past and through our relatively small pains, honor their memories.
Our goal is to gain a greater sense of what we can accomplish through teamwork and perseverance while at the same time gaining a deeper appreciation of the sacrifices those that came before us have made.
This student-led organization is focused on leadership training and preparing students to take on greater leadership roles upon graduation. This unique experience will prepare the future leaders of our nation to succeed in any competitive environment, military or civilian. With your support, we can field two teams of five students each to represent Oklahoma State University at the Bataan Death Memorial March.
Your gift will help support the entry fee, travel and lodging as well as high carbohydrate and protein meals during the memorial march. All gifts, no matter the size will help these students achieve their goal.
