Help Our Tutors Learn More Through Research

The OSU Writing Center serves all writers at Oklahoma State University and beyond, both in the local Stillwater community, Oklahoma State, and nationwide through our various connections with writing centers across the country. On average, we see 4,000 writers per semester, and make over 10,000 contacts; we aim to be accessible through our multiple modes of delivery and offer in-person sessions, as well as online, both synchronous and asynchronous, sessions and are open until 9:30 most days through our online offerings. We aim for inclusion and equity in our work, as we are committed to antiracist initiatives and social justice missions, and are intentional with our partnering for these aims. We have a staff of 50+, including graduate students from different programs and colleges and undergraduates from all disciplines. To ensure that we give generative feedback, we are committed to research and learning.

There will be a regional writing center conference, hosted by the South Central Writing Center Association, in New Orleans in February 2022. This is a great opportunity for our tutors to not only present their research on the innovative and exciting work they are doing in the WC, but also for them to learn about new practices and research to become stronger in their profession in writing center work. This provides the tutors, who are OSU students from all different majors and colleges, with leadership and professional development opportunities as well as provides better services for the entire OSU and Stillwater community, as they become stronger tutors through such projects. Participating in this conference also makes us more visible to other universities and students in the region, which is an effective recruiting tool. We would love to get our tutors to New Orleans this semester to continue the great work we do!
