The OSU Polo Club does not have a set schedule of games going into each semester, but the United States Polo Association (USPA) hosts a national competition yearly. They have preliminaries, regionals, and a national competition. Schools like Harvard, University of Virginia, SMU, and University of Texas all compete in nationals. Matches are set annually between Oklahoma State and Texas Tech University, University of Texas, Colorado State University, Texas State University, and Texas Christian University. In the school year of 2021-2022, our women’s varsity placed second at regionals, winning an all-star award, best playing pony award, and best playing string acknowledgement. Following, for the first time in OSU history, we qualified for D1 nationals and placed fourth! Not only does the team earn recognition through tournaments, but we also have hundreds and thousands of followers on our social media.
While we earn many recognition for these events, the travel expenses and entry to our competitions cost our club thousands. These expenditures set back our move to our new location (which will have running water, electricity, and more room for our ponies)! We have more club members, ponies, and playing teams than we have had in years – thus the cost of running has also increased! While membership dues pay to feed our ponies, there is not much room left for extras (such as competitions, new tack, a trailer, etc.).
The women’s varsity team has been working hard this year to win nationals in the spring! In order to get there, they must compete in several other competitions to qualify – all of which cost the club hundreds of dollars. We do not get any outside funding from this, and therefore, must fundraise! Any support given through Philanthropete will go directly to funding our women’s team and our new men’s varsity team traveling and competing for OSU! This will hopefully continue to help us gain recognition as well as new sponsorships to further advancing our organization.

Our new property does not have finished fencing; meaning we have to buy t-posts, wire, gate panels, wooden posts, and other materials to best guard and keep our ponies safe. These gifts will help us get our fencing up sooner to move our ponies to bigger pastures! We will thank our donors with a specialized message from our club member family!
Our club has over 20 ponies we are using for matches, practices, and traveling competitions! For these donors we will send a personalized message from our club members and families as well as a sponsorship message across our social media platforms.
Our club has four different teams - women's varsity, men's varsity, junior varsity, and club members! We currently have over 25 members all dedicated to the sport! These donors will be thanked with a personalized message from our club member family, a sponsorship announcement across our social media platforms, and an open invitation (with reserved seating) to our next home match!
Our current property has no running water or electricity! Each of these donations brings us one step closer to being able to run water to our ponies without bringing it in by IBC totes daily! Our new property out on Lakeview has 35 acres for us to utilize for our ponies and club members! After fencing, running water, and electricity, we plan to build a new arena for our members to practice and play games in! We intend for our new facility to be fully fenced, have electricity and running water, shelters in each pasture, a state-of-the-art polo arena, a 20-stall barn to keep our horses safe in weather, bleachers, and a tie area!
