For 21 years, the OSU polo club has been located at facilities with no running water, electricity, or stables. Our arena, fencing, and horse care have all come from club members. At least twice a semester, the club will have workdays in order to better improve our fields. Club members who have trucks have helped load a 250-gallon IBC tote to and from the polo facilities in order to provide water to our horses, as needed, every 2-3 days.
Unfortunately, the current facility our horses are kept is up for sale and horses must be moved out within the next year. With the help of donations, we will be able to provide our horses with a safe location that is reliable and can provide our horses with running water, lights, fans, protection, and overall, the best care they deserve.
Our new location currently does not have fencing, stables, an arena, or sectioned pastures. This land has been provided to us and our goal is to have the facility up and running in a year. Due to harsh temperatures such as last year’s freeze, we had to find other locations for our horses’ protection. Sadly, not all horses could be placed in a stall and they had to endure these harsh temperatures outside in double blankets and neck coverings.
Donations are the best thing to help our club provide a new and safer environment for our horses. These horses have taught experienced riders as well as those who have never ridden a horse before. With the help of many club members, parents, and polo supporters, we have been able to just get by on horse and facility care. In order to provide our horses with the best care they deserve- your donation allows us to get one step closer to moving to our new property and assisting in that goal!
