Support Arts Administration Students Attending State Arts Conference

Arts Administration students represent a broad mix of industry, from interest in historical art contexts, to live performance, including dance, music and theatre, to arts entrepreneurs and future sector leaders. Students in the major are focused on learning skills needed in today's arts organizations, especially given challenges faced as a result of the COVID-19 Pandemic. Though the program is relatively new, our first graduates, finishing up this fall, currently have paid positions with the Tulsa Symphony and Tulsa Performing Arts Center. Through networking at events like the Oklahoma Arts Conference, students are able to meet with organizations, arts leaders, and gain a better understanding of their future in the arts while making valuable connections to potential employers, collaborators, and future colleagues in the field.

The Oklahoma Arts Conference brings together hundreds of artists, nonprofit administrators, community developers, civic leaders, educators, students, and others from across the state in one location for two-plus days of professional development and networking. Conference sessions feature nationally recognized industry experts who address current trends and topics in artist career development, nonprofit management, and community development through the arts. Sessions also feature local presenters and panelists highlighting successful models in Oklahoma. Conference activities include networking events, performances, and tours of community arts and cultural spaces. More information about the Oklahoma Arts Conference is available at arts.ok.gov. "Embracing the Dawn" will be held October 27-29 in Muskogee.
