Due to the generosity of our donors, we are 14% of the way to reaching our goal to continue to provide a Geosciences Summer Academy experience to underserved high school students across Oklahoma. We'd like to increase this percentage to 25% this week!
November 8 was National STEM Day, where people are encouraged to explore their interests in the fields of science, technology, engineering, and math. However, approximately 15% of STEM majors wind up dropping out during their first year. One of our goals with this Summer Academy is to work towards lowering that percent, as hands-on STEM opportunities have been shown to be successful in keeping students in STEM pathways.
We are committed and focused on engaging in geoscience education for the next generation of scientists, we just need YOUR HELP to make it happen!
