OSU beats OU in first ever Bedlam on Ice at the BOK

November 16, 2022

On November 5th, 2022, OSU beat OU in a historic matchup at the BOK center in Tulsa, Oklahoma. OSU finished the first period with a 1-0 lead and after the second period, had expanded that lead to 3-0. OU, however, came back in the third with a quick goal on a powerplay, and with 14 seconds left of the game, the score was 4-4 after another powerplay goal from OU. OSU though, was not ready to give up just yet and fought hard and eventually scored the 5-4 game-winner in overtime.

Captain Jacob Thompson said, "I just froze for a few seconds before I realized we'd won because at first, I couldn't believe it!"

The team is thrilled about the win considering that OSU is only in its second year and plays in division 2 of the ACHA while OU plays one division higher in division 1. The hard work and effort the players have put in during practices leading up to the game paid off in the end. The Bedlam on Ice matchup proved to be a successful event for both the team and the fans and will hopefully become a beloved tradition for years to come!

Why did you choose OSU?

I chose OSU because my parents attended OSU for a couple of years between the two of them, which they loved, as well as the culture around the school.

What is your favorite thing about hockey?

Something that always kept me in love with the sport was brotherhood. No matter who the person is, whether you like them or not, they’re wearing the same logo and same colors, and no matter what, we all would make sacrifices for each other no matter the cost. We all have one common goal.

How many years have you been playing?

What is your favorite team memory?

Anytime Coach makes us skate for doing something wrong is usually memory worthy. We’re all doing something that really sucks together and somehow there’s still guys smiling and laughing when we’re all done, and more importantly we’re ready to get back at it and do things right this time.
