The OSU Polo club consists of anywhere from 20-40 members each semester and 20 ponies. We have 3 competing teams. Woman's Varsity
Men's Varsity
Junior Varsity
We also have club members that do not compete at the collegiate level. They compete against each other in club member matches to showcase what they have learned to their family and friends.
The ponies are cared for by the club members and officers. Our polo ponies allow our club to run. Without them, we wouldn't have a club. One of the crucial things for the horses is water. Currently, our facilities does not have water. Water is trucked in by our officers with our ponies needing 4-6 loads of water per week. This is a huge time commitment for our officers as it takes about an hour per load. Another issue with not having running water is when we have injuries or after practices and games when our horses need to be rinsed off. Having running water is something that most people don't think about. However, when it comes to it it is a very important thing to have.
We were given an opportunity to move our facility on campus. This would allow us to have running water and electricity. But it comes at a cost. The new facility currently doesn't have fencing. The club is having to pay for everything, fencing, arena, shelters, etc. We have amazing news we are breaking ground on this facility in mid-April.
We currently are in need of donors to help us in finalizing the fencing, provide shelters, and start the arena. You can help us in our new beginning! Every penny counts towards helping our ponies!
This will provide 8 feet of arena walls. The average polo arena is 300 feet by 150 feet.
This will provide 20 feet of fencing for our ponies. This will ensure their safety once moved to the new facility
This will provide 1 gate for our ponies. We need 8 gates to finalize the fencing.
This will provide 2 water troughs for polo ponies. We need at least 8 additional water troughs to make sure our ponies have plenty of water on hot days.
This will supply the club with grading and footing for our arena and paths at our new place. This allows our ponies to feel and play their best!
This will provide 1 shelter for our ponies. In polo, a Penalty 1 is an automatic goal. This shelter will keep our ponies safe during Oklahoma storms.
