As a non-profit 501(c)3, Women in Aviation International is reliant upon the support of donors. Specifically for Oklahoma State University’s chapter, we aspire to Encourage, Empower, and Educate our student membership, and this not only involves the help and assistance of volunteers, but financial assistance as well. A fundamental part of being a part of OSU-WAI includes attending the annual WAI Conference. Educational and Professional Development Seminars, Workshops, Scholarships, Keynote Speakers, the WAI Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony, Industry Briefings, an Exhibit Hall – the Conference has it all.
As young professionals, this is the most critical point of our careers to network and connect. The aviation industry is part who you are, part who you know. The Annual WAI Conference offers an unparalleled opportunity for such, and this is where your help matters. As college students, we certainly attempt to budget to the best of our abilities in order to attend the WAI Conference, but airfare, stay, food, and other travel fairs cost more than our chapter has to offer. As the OSU-WAI Chapter has been officially recognized since 2020, we are still new to building our alumni network, and are slow to growing our chapter funds. Every amount donated goes directly toward the budget for sending a student to conference.
On average, with the location of the conference pending, it costs approximately $1,600 for each student to attend. We strive to raise the 6% industry average of women in aviation, and the conference is where it starts for so many. Mentoring and networking with distinguished pilots, mechanics, air traffic controllers, and the like have proven efficient in diversifying our field, and with every donation in helping our members attend, we sincerely thank you in your support to continue diversifying this long-time male-dominated workforce.
