CowboyThon is the largest student-led philanthropy at OSU. We host a year-round fundraising initiative that donates 100% of its proceeds to the Children’s Health Foundation of Oklahoma. To end the year, CowboyThon hosts a Dance Marathon celebrating the kids and families impacted by our fundraising. This Dance Marathon, our Main Event, consists of eight hours of games, dancing, raffles, an art auction, and more. The Children's Health Foundation focuses on the advancement of pediatric medical care in Oklahoma - including a new partnership with OSU Medicine's Pediatrics department. CowboyThon will donate $100,000 over the next three years to the Neonatal Program at OSU. This fund will provide restricted funding to support the advancement of the neonatal program to a level II nursery with on-site specialist. Specifically, it will support a comprehensive lactation program and the Eat, Sleep and Console program for babies with Neonatal Opioid Withdrawal Syndrome.
The Children's Health Foundation also partners with families that CowboyThon adopts as our Miracle Families. These are families whose children have been treated at the Children's Hospital. One of our Miracle Families, the Winslows, are locals to Stillwater. Their son Graham was born with Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia and Hydrocephalus. These conditions caused him to spend the first 109 days of his life in the Children's Hospital - undergoing many surgeries and procedures.Organizations like CowboyThon that support the Children's Health Foundation allowed the Winslows access to all of the care they needed for Graham in Oklahoma - so they didn't have to travel out of state for their son.
