Each year, students with intellectual disability graduate from Oklahoma high schools with the hope and desire of attending college. Building on OSU’s mission as a land-grant institution to make a college education more accessible and inclusive, Opportunity Orange Scholars strives to enrich the OSU community by providing a college path for students with intellectual disability.
Housed in the Department of Human Development and Family Science in the College of Education and Human Sciences, Opportunity Orange Scholars provides students with learning opportunities and individualized supports across four program cornerstones:1) academic development, 2) career exploration & preparation, 3) interdependent living, and 4) community engagement. The two-year program challenges and supports personal and professional development as students live, learn, work and play on the OSU campus. Graduates of the program earn a university-recognized certificate in Career and Community Studies as reflected on an official OSU Transcript.
The total cost to attend the program for one academic year is $25,000-$30,000. This cost, which is a barrier for most students and their families, is comparable to that of a degree-seeking student. With your support, deserving students will have the opportunity to engage in life-changing educational and social experiences at OSU.
Help us create an inclusive educational experience and a more diverse campus at OSU by supporting student scholarships for Opportunity Orange Scholars.
