The Hargis Leadership Institute (HLI) at Oklahoma State University (OSU) is a leadership development institute dedicated to fostering personal growth, leadership skills, and community engagement among students. Named after Burns Hargis, President Emeritus of OSU, the institute reflects his commitment to nurturing student leadership and encouraging lifelong learning. Its mission is to prepare students for leadership roles by providing opportunities to enhance their self-awareness, confidence, and ability to make a positive impact. The Institute is home to the President's Leadership Councill, the McKnight Scholars Program, and a number of co-curricular programs offered to all Oklahoma State University students. At the Hargis Leadership Institute, we believe everyone has the ability to be a leader, no matter their age or position.
HLI is opening the doors for students from all over campus to travel abroad, learn about leadership, and close geographical borders. This short-term study abroad course will travel to Cape Town and Johannasburg, South Africa in May 2025. The class will cover ethical leadership, global sustainability, social justice, and the 3 core elements of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. This is the first time HLI is offering this course and we are raising money to help cover the costs of the trip so that no student is discouraged from applying. This is a fantastic way to support our students in their leadership journey here at Oklahoma State!
Gift will support towards one community meal for students in country. The partner will receive a personal thank you email from the team leaders.
Gift will provide academic scholarships towards the learning materials for ten students. The partner will receive a signed "thank you" post card from the trip.
Gift will provide academic scholarships towards the course and materials for two students in advancing their leadership development through the study abroad experience. The partner will receive a signed "thank you" poster from the study abroad trip.
Gift will provide academic scholarships towards the course and materials for four students in advancing their leadership development through the study abroad experience. The partner will receive a video reel of the cohort in country with a thank you for making the opportunity possible.
Gift will provide flight scholarships for two students who are experiencing their first global learning study abroad trip. The partner (donor) will receive an opportunity to meet and greet with the cohort of students to hear about their leadership experience and receive a social media shout out.
