As College of Education and Human Sciences Ambassadors, we are a selective group of 70 students from various majors, including Aviation, Education, Health Sciences, Design and Merchandising, and Human and Community Services. We are scholars, researchers, leaders, and mentors who share a passion for helping others. Our objective is to guide and support freshmen in their first semester along with the P.L.A.C.E. living-learning program. In previous years ambassadors contributed over 4,800 hours of volunteer service and participated extensively in the First Year Seminar classes. However, the program has evolved this year, as ambassadors are now present in the classroom with freshmen only 4 times during the semester. Despite this change, we continue to offer personalized mentorship and support through one-on-one meetings, email and text communication, and the organization of upcoming events for the spring semester. Our commitment to fostering student engagement and providing encouragement remains unwavering. Understanding the challenges of the first year, we are committed to being positive role models and mentors, helping freshmen navigate this pivotal time and achieve their full potential.
Our mission is to guide and support freshmen in the College of Education and Human Sciences through their First Year Seminar classes and the P.L.A.C.E. living-learning program. Our ambassadors contribute a personable connection with the students by offering one-on-one mentorship and organizing activities to engage students. We recognize that the first year can be challenging, and we strive to serve as role models and mentors to help freshmen achieve success.
Our team participates in meetings and training sessions to earn certifications and become more effective mentors. With your support, we can improve our ability to serve these freshmen. Your contributions would also help fund various events and ceremonies throughout the year. Any support would further our efforts to make the College of Education and Human Sciences a place where students feel supported, celebrated, and empowered to succeed.
With your generous support, we can enhance our training, become more effective mentors, and gain additional tools to better serve both our freshmen and the College. Your contribution also allows us to continue the cherished tradition of recognizing and celebrating our freshmen as they complete their first semester at OSU. We are deeply grateful for your generosity, and as always, go Pokes!
