Who Are We?
Global Medicine Club encourages current and future health professionals from all fields and specialties to share their knowledge and skills with people of all nations. Our club is comprised of medical students enrolled at OSU College of Osteopathic Medicine and physician assistant students enrolled at OSU Center for Health Sciences who are passionate about serving underserved communities and gaining invaluable healthcare experience overseas. The Global Health Department partners with several countries around the world, including Nepal, Peru, and Malawi. Every year, students travel overseas to work in pre-established health facilities or host pop-up medical clinics.
The Value of Global Medicine
Global health trips allow students to put their classroom knowledge into practice, develop their physical exam skills, and test their adaptability when resources are scarce. Additionally, students deliver presentations about common diseases in the countries they travel to which further enriches their education through a global lens. Beyond the medical experience, these trips allow students to compassionately engage with other cultures. They also learn about healthcare systems, medical access, and facilities operations in countries outside of the United States. Global medicine trips provide a unique perspective, opening students’ eyes to treat each person holistically.
Why Donate?
Funds raised through this project will provide travel scholarships for GMC members participating in global health trips. Since students pay out-of-pocket for these experiences, we aim to make them more affordable, ensuring that more students have the opportunity to embark on these life-changing trips.
One dollar for every country partnering with OSU Global Medicine!
This is the cost of room and board for one week for one student.
