Our Crowdfunding Groups
We are a group who seeks to create debate and discussion around compelling topics of the day. Currently, we host weekly meetings for our members to discuss current events and other debatable realms, like the separation of Church and State, nuclear energy, and the limits of the 2nd Amendment. We have recently launched the debate club's podcast, which interviews a variety of OSU professors regarding topics of interest. Finally, we are wanting to launch the OSU Debate Team, which would travel across the country to engage in professional debates with other collegiate teams.
Especially in today’s climate, providing forums to professionally argue and consider other opinions and perspectives is critical. The OSU Debate Club wants to create environments where ideas can be exchanged, minds potentially changed, and rhetorical skills sharpened. To be clear: Debate Club does not subscribe to any particular ideology or agenda, we simply seek to provide a medium for discussion and foster a culture that encourages critical thinking applied to real-world issues and problems.
For the next 4 weeks, the OSU Debate Club is attempting to raise $2,500 to support our Outreach costs and Debate Team expenses.
Helps fund club recruitment efforts such as flier campaigns, and tabling activities Covers the cost of printing posters or handouts for a single recruitment event. Buys supplies like markers, tape, or a banner for a tabling setup. Funds a batch of branded stickers or buttons to hand out to potential members. Supports a small coffee-and-donut meet-and-greet for new recruits.
Could help sponsor the dues for a weekend competition Pays for a team member’s registration fee for a local debate tournament. Funds a set of debate timers or notepads for team prep. Helps purchase a month’s subscription to an online research database for competition prep.
Help pay for competition traveling fees such as gas, food, hotel, and preparation expenses. Covers a full tank of gas for a team van to travel to an out-of-town event. Funds a team dinner at a competition to boost morale and energy. Pays for one night’s hotel stay for a team member during a multi-day tournament. Helps buys a set of professional debate attire (e.g., ties, blazers) for a polished team look
Cover the entire competition expense for a debate team member Funds a team member’s transportation (e.g., bus or train ticket) to a major event. Pays for a full set of competition materials (e.g., binders, pens, highlighters) for the team. Sponsors a mock debate event with a guest judge to sharpen skills before a tournament. Covers the entry fee and travel for a team member to attend a prestigious regional competition.
Covers the overall average expenses of a debate team member to participate in a Debate Competition
