Cowboy Rocketworks: Striving for Space
Cowboy Rocketworks: Striving for Space
Cowboy Rocketworks is a High-Power Rocketry (HPR) Competition team that fosters an environment where students from any background can develop technical skills by mentoring and assisting members as they work their way up the HPR certification system. Cowboy Rocketworks internationally represents the university through participation in intercollegiate design competitions, giving members applied experience in project development, teamwork, and leadership. Each year, we assist dozens of students in gaining their first rocketry certifications and have around 60 members actively working on competition and research projects. One of our main goals is helping students get their foot in the door of High-Power Rocketry by achieving their Level 1 personal certification. The team assists with construction, simulation, and motor selection for all new members. Giving the members opportunities to get personal certifications helps them build and grow their knowledge in the field of HPR which then extends to the competition side. This year we are competing in the Argonia Cup which is a 2 Stage competition. We are given a set of rules and an equation that we optimize to be able to design and build a rocket that will get us the best score possible at the cup. We are also competing in the International Rocketry Engineering Competition (IREC). This competition has many different challenges within the canopy of the competition, but we are competing in 30,000 ft altitude using COTS motors. IREC gives us the unique experience of learning how to write reports that go along with the projects as well as presentations and the ability to share with the world our project. Along with competition we have started a space shot campaign with the hopes that one day in the near future we will be able to fly to space. This last year we have made significant strides in designing and building a rocket that will reach an altitude of 100,000 ft which is halfway to space. Then with the knowledge from that flight we plan to have a rocket built and ready to go 100 km and reach space next year. Your donations make it possible for us to keep supporting our members with their personal certifications, both of our competition rockets, and our space shot.
$25
Friend of Rocketry
Every dollar counts, and just $25 can make a difference in so many ways. Your donation could help cover that extra tool a member needs to level up their certification or a last-minute fix to a rocket at competition.
$50
New Tools
With a $50 donation you give cowboy rocketworks the ability to replace old power tools and hand tools that we use every day.
$100
Level 1 Rocket
A level 1 rocket kit for Members is a crutial and exciting start to most of our newer members journeys in the club. It is the starting point in understanding High Power Rocketry.
$200
Argoinia Cup Motor
Argoina Cup is our 2 staged competition in Argoinia Kansas. We have won 4 times and we hope to add a 5th this year. With a $200 donation you are helping supply 1 of the 2 motors needed for every launch.
$500
High Altitude Motor
Our other competition is the International Rocket Engineering Contest. The goal is to go 30,000 ft using solid propellent. A $500 donation will help supply the motor we need for this competition. As well as the IREC Motor it would also help benifit the club support its members persuing Level 3 Certifications with helping supply there motor for there certification.
