Oklahoma State University Forage Bowl Team
Oklahoma State University Forage Bowl Team
The Oklahoma State University Forage Bowl Team participates in the American Forage and Grassland Council (AFGC) National Forage Bowl Competition, an annual academic contest designed to test students’ applied knowledge of forage establishment, physiology, hay and silage, soil fertility, toxins, and utilization in livestock systems. This competition brings together undergraduate students from across the U.S. to engage in professional development, networking, and interdisciplinary learning. Students compete in two phases:
1. Live Plant Identification Quiz (individual component), and
2. Quiz-Style Game Play (team competition modeled after Jeopardy).
Participation provides an outstanding professional development opportunity that strengthens students’ understanding of forage–livestock systems, enhances their communication and leadership skills, and encourages collaboration across disciplines including Animal and Food Sciences, Plant and Soil Sciences, Natural Resource Ecology and Management, and Environmental Sciences.
