CEHS Student Council and Community Corners

Who are we? 

The College of Education and Human Sciences (CEHS) Student Council is an umbrella organization that supports and uplifts CEHS student clubs and organizations as well as the students, faculty, staff, alumni, and community of our college. Our council functions as the voice of the student body, bridging gaps between students and resources, and meeting student needs, creating real change both in the hallways and in the community. 

What are Community Corners?

CEHS Community Corners are student-led pop-up spaces that invite connection, reflection and care through simple, tangible interactions. Designed and implemented by the CEHS Student Council, each Community Corner will offer an easy way for students to pause, engage, and strengthen their sense of belonging.

CEHS students will encounter simple ways to engage as they move through a CEHS Community Corner. Prompt boards will invite reflection and shared conversation with questions like “What helps you feel welcome here?” Take-one cards will offer words of encouragement or practical campus tips, and space will be provided for students to leave a note or response of their own. QR  codes will connect each Community Corner to student-curated resources, extending the experience beyond the physical space and making it easy to explore or revisit later.

Community Corners create low-pressure moments of connection in everyday campus spaces. They are not programs to attend or workshops to sit through. They are small, human touchpoints that remind students they are seen, supported, and part of a shared community.

Project Goal

Community Corner Materials & Displays - $3,500.00

These funds support the physical pop-up spaces students will see and use in Willard and NRD.

• Portable display boards and tabletop signage
• Durable prompt boards and writing surfaces
• Reusable stands, holders, and display materials
• Supplies for interactive participation (markers, cards, papers)

Printing & Take-One Resources – $2,500

Each printed item will be designed by students and openly shared for others to use.

• Supports the creation of tangible materials students can take with them.
• Encouragement cards and reflection prompts
• Campus tips and student-created messages
• QR-coded cards connecting students to resources
• Reprints for high traffic locations and events

Design, Accessibility  & Open Sharing

Ensures Community Corners are welcoming, inclusive, and meaningful for all students.

• Graphic design support for signage and print materials
• Accesssibility checks (Panorama software?)
• Preparation of printable digital editions of the resources

CEHS Community Corners (Online Edition) – $1,000

Extends Community Corners to online and distance learners

• Digital prompts and interactive spaces
• Online-friendly versions of Community Corner materials
• Hosting and organization of student-curated materials

Outreach, Promotion & Reflection - $1,000

Helps students discover Community Corners and share their impact

• Fliers and table tents promoting Community Corner times and locations
• Digital graphics for communication channels
• Simple feedback tools to capture student voices and reflections

These funds help students see themselves reflected in the project and its outcomes.
