Cowboy Stuttering Camp and Supporting Stuttering in Oklahoma

Stuttering impacts about 1 in every 100 people.  In Oklahoma, that is over 40,000 individuals.  With limited specialized care options, the Cowboy Stuttering Camp stands as a unique opportunity to help those that do stutter.

The three-week camp is held on the campus of Oklahoma State University each summer.  It provides individualized treatment, group treatment, training to accept stuttering and become better communicators, and parent training to help their children understand and cope with their stuttering.  The three-week session ends with a capstone event where each camper makes an oral presentation to a learge group of campers, their families and their friends.

In addition to the Cowboy Stuttering Camp, the Stuttering Research and Therapy Lab, led by Dr. John Tetnowski produces cutting-edge research, trains master's and PhD students, provides workshops for working speech-language pathologists and holds/sponsors several events each year throughout the state for people who stutter. The lab holds a strong affiliation with the National Stuttering Association, the largest self-help group for people who stutter in the world.
