On January 8th, International Students & Scholars said goodbye to long time coordinator, advocate, and supporter of all international students, Regina Henry, as she retired after many years of faithful service to OSU. Regina has had an incredible impact on the countless international students, faculty and scholars at OSU, touching hundreds and hundreds of lives as she welcomed all to OSU helping them to achieve their dream of receiving an OSU degree. In her honor, we invite you to make a gift to the newly founded Regina Henry Scholarship Fund. This special scholarship endowment will be used to support international students in the School of Global Studies to gain invaluable experiences through internships and other opportunities.
In her 44 years of serving OSU's international population, Regina has impacted every person she has come into contact with. Muwanika Jdiobe has benefitted greatly from Regina's benevolence, advice, kindness, and encouragement during his pursuit of his undergraduate and master's degree at OSU.
"Regina Henry is a beacon and hope for many international students at Oklahoma State University. I was able to graduate with my bachelor’s degree because of her generous heart and the effort she used to fundraise towards my tuition. I will forever be grateful for the opportunity Regina gave me and her legacy of helping international students.”
Regina made an impact not only on her students but on her coworkers as well. Trisha Iyonsi serves as International Tax Coordinator for ISS and has worked with Regina for many years.
"Professionally Regina goes by many titles. Officially she’s Immigration Coordinator, PDSO and RO. But she’s more than that. She’s counselor to colleagues and students. She’s an advocate with administrators. She’s mother to the motherless. She’s a mentor to those starting their careers. It’s not her technical knowledge of F-1, J-1, H1B that I admire most. It’s not just her ability to cite the regs like second nature. It’s her investment in people and especially the vulnerable that has most profoundly impacted me. She makes you want to be better and do better. She never hesitates to do the right thing or get involved. She shows up for people again and again.”
Previous Vice President of Student Affairs at OSU, Dr. Ron Beer, describes Regina as a “rockstar” among international students.
“Cara and I have had the pleasure of knowing, working with, and supporting Regina Henry through her forty plus years of outstanding service at OSU. Her knowledge, expertise, experience, and wonderfully supportive attitude, have facilitated many programs, meetings, and services, hosted by a variety of community organizations in support of international students. For that assistance, we will be forever grateful… Cara and I are honored to be contributors to the endowed scholarship fund being created by ISO and the School of Global Studies in Regina Henry's name. We think of no greater tribute to her than perpetuating a fund to support international students. We urge you to join us in this special endeavor.”
Join us in ensuring Regina’s legacy lives on forever at OSU in the form of support for international students by making a gift to the Regina Henry Scholarship Fund!
