More than 50% of college sexual assaults occur in either August, September, October, or November, right at the start of the Fall semester.
70% of sexual violence victims experience moderate to severe distress. Students who experience sexual violence are more likely to suffer academically, experience depression or post-traumatic-stress disorder, or to abuse alcohol or other drugs.
More than 90% of sexual assault victims on college campuses do not report the assault. This can be due to a number of reasons, including fear of retaliation, belief that the police will not be able to help, or desire to not get the perpetrator in trouble.
7% of all students experience sexual violence assault through physical force, violence, or incapacitation. At OSU, 7% of the student population is roughly 1725 students.
