Honoring Ceremony

The Native American Student Association (NASA) is an organization that provides opportunities for students to participate in culturally relevant activities that foster a closer union, and to also take part in activities that perpetuate individual tribal traditions and customs both on- and off-campus.  Participation in NASA is encouraged for people from every ethnic background and race.  Being Native American is not a requirement of NASA. As advised by the Center for Sovereign Nations, one of the key aspects of NASA is that it is organized, implemented, and developed by students.  NASA conducts executive officer meetings every Thursday, conducts general membership meetings every other Thursday, and conducts about one event per month: a leadership development event, informational conference, or fun activity for the general membership.

We have this platform to raise money to support our graduating seniors with a ceremony of their own and an option to get a stole and pamphlet. We have a lot to plan and put into motion for this event to occur as it pairs up with Mr. & Miss American Indian OSU pageant every year. We offer scholarships to those who win as well as help them represent our school and NASA group alongside the other current officers. NASA can help you accomplish what your goals are in school or just be a way to connect and make friends! We always welcome new faces to our biweekly meetings and are grateful for those who keep coming back, even if you decided not to be an official member. Our stoles have many different designs, some have the OSU logo and colors while others are patterns seen within the Native American community. We usually get around 50 but would like to purchase more as not all of the graduates can get one if it is a larger class as it is open to all NASA members as well as other Native Americans outside our organization.

$10

4 pamphlets

The pamphlet will contain the keynote speakers as well as the councilmen speaking for the graduates with a separate page full of all the graduates' names who are participating. We like to have plenty of these so every family can get one while the graduates still receiving one if they so desire.

$15

1 Stole

We offer stoles of many different colors and designs for our graduates to wear during our separate graduation ceremony. It ranges from the OSU logo to the most intricate Native American pattern threaded upon a quilt. These can get a bit pricey, especially when we have to get many.

$20

Refreshments

We offer refreshments to every attendee that includes a drink, snacks, and desserts, sometimes small finger foods if it can be afforded.

$30

American Indian OSU judges

This will help cover the costs for hiring judges for the American Indian OSU pageant held annually.

$50

American Indian Scholarship

We provide a $1000 scholarship to those crowned for Mr. & Miss American Indian OSU to help them along in funding their education and as a reward for representing a community.

$75

5 stoles

This will buy 5 stoles for 5 different graduates with their choice of a stole in a different pattern or color. There are around 50 graduates each year with an average size of a graduating class.
