MobileSmiles Oklahoma is an organization that travels throughout the state of Oklahoma providing essential dental care and oral health education to those in need. Their mission is to remove barriers that inhibit individuals from receiving the care they need. By reaching out to underserved populations, including those without dental insurance or financial means, MobileSmiles ensures that dental care is accessible to all, regardless of socioeconomic status. By traveling in a van that has state-of-the-art technology, they are removing situational, financial, and geographical barriers and can provide treatment from something as simple as a restoration case to something as complex as an extraction. By providing such services and education on oral hygiene practices they would help people in our community maintain good oral health and possibly prevent future dental issues. For our project, MobileSmiles would come to Oklahoma State's campus and provide dental care for members of the Oklahoma State community who need dental care but do not have access to it. At the end of the day, peers in our community will be transformed through the care that is provided to them.
Periodontal Maintenance is a more intense version of what you receive when you go to the dentist to get your teeth cleaned. This is needed for patients who are at risk for gum disease. It prevents tooth loss, promotes healthy gums, and helps address current infections.
$1,500 is the amount needed to bring MobileSmiles to Oklahoma State's campus for a day.
5,000 is the cost of a full set of removable dentures (upper and lower). Often dentures are the route that individuals take when they do not have consistent access to professional dental care.
One of our long-term goals is to provide accessible, free dental care to those in our Cowboy Family. One of the short-term ways we can do that is by MobileSmiles having a consistent availability on our campus. $10,500 is the cost of MobileSmiles for one week.
