The Flying Cowgirls go to the WAI Conference

Home of the Flying Cowgirls

Oklahoma State University’s Chapter of Women in Aviation International (WAI), The Home of the Flying Cowgirls, aspires to Encourage, Empower, and Educate our student membership.

Our Mission: OSU-WAI is committed to building relationships and getting women involved in aviation through community outreach, social events, and networking opportunities.

As a 501(c)3, we are reliant on donors to help us Dream as Big as the Sky.

What do we do?

Community Outreach

Whether it's through our website's blog, K-5 school program, volunteering around Stillwater or at the WAI annual Girls in Aviation Day event, OSU-WAI aims to diversify the aviation industry and is dedicated to serving the local aviation community.

Networking

As young professionals, this is the most critical point of our careers to network and connect because the aviation industry recognizes and emphasizes the split importance of both who you are, and who you know. Networking is our Chapter's second core value, and is something we promote through mentoring, attending the annual WAI Conference, and hosting guest speakers at our monthly meetings.

Social Events

Not only do we provide workshops for educational and professional development, but we love to just have FUN! WAI-OSU values the history and culture of aviation, and strives to foster an inclusive community for all aviation enthusiasts alike.

The Conference - A Breakdown

What & Why: A fundamental part of being a part of OSU-WAI includes attending the annual WAI Conference. Educational and Professional Development Seminars, Workshops, Scholarships, Keynote Speakers, the WAI Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony, Industry Briefings, an Exhibit Hall – the Conference has it all. The WAI Conference offers unparalleled professional development and networking opportunities that extend beyond the classroom and flight deck. We strive to raise the 6% industry average of women in aviation, and the conference is where it starts for so many.

The Home of the Flying Cowgirls was officially marked as a collegiate chapter and formally recognized by WAI in 2020. While we have worked hard over past years to build our chapter and alumni network, we need your help getting our members to the Conference.

The Cost: With next year's Conference location being in Denver, CO, it costs approximately $1,600 for each student to attend. After budgeting for Conference registration, airfare, lodging, food, and other miscellaneous travel expenses, this exceeds the financial capabilities of our young WAI Chapter.

OSU-WAI sincerely thanks every donor for their help and contribution, and we wish you all blue skies and tailwinds
