Environmental science conferences offer valuable opportunities for professionals to share research, exchange ideas, and to collaborate with others in the field that lead to connections, job opportunities, and furthering one's education on environmental challenges. However, early-career scientists, students, and those from underfunded institutions, face financial barriers to attending these events. This has led to these groups of individuals missing out on valuable opportunities to learn, present their knowledge, and to collaborate with established environmental scientist. Society of Environmental Scientists is increasingly seeking donor support to provide financial assistance to members, helping to ensure that members do not have financial restraints when it comes to attending and presenting at conferences. By raising funds, our club aims to foster inclusivity and diversity within the scientific community, enabling a wider range of perspectives to be represented.
Donor contributions have a direct and meaningful impact. With donor support, the Society of Environmental Scientists can offer travel grants, conference registration subsidies, and even stipends for lodging and meals. This will help to alleviate the financial burden of conference costs. Donations will primarily fund these initiatives, enabling future environmental scientists to engage in crucial networking and professional development activities. Ultimately, this investment strengthens the environmental science community by ensuring that all voices, regardless of financial background, can contribute to advancements in various fields of environmental work.

A lot of conferences require travel, which means often times attendees have to pay for meals during the duration of travel. This adds to the financial restraints of attending conferences. This donation ensures that a member of SES will not have to worry about one of their meals while traveling for a conference.
When wanting to present your research at a conference, you will be required to submit an abstract of your work that must be approved. Often times, there is a fee for submitting an abstract. A donation at this level will help cover the cost or cover some of the cost of an abstract submission!
When a conference is in state or located in a drivable distance from home, people prefer to drive rather than fly since it is less expensive. However, that is not to say that having to fill up their car with gas is cheap. A donation at this level will cover a tank of gas for a member traveling to an in-state conference.
To attend a conference, you have to register for it! Registration fees are often times one of the most expensive parts of attending a conference, ranging from $0 to over $700. This donation will help pay for someone's registration, or even fully cover the cost!
When conferences are at a large scale, they typically have "Designated Hotels" where they will have room blocks for attendees to stay at during the duration of the conference. While these rooms are usually listed at a discounted rate, they can still be rather pricey. A donation at this level will help with paying for lodging of one our members when they travel for a conference!
