The OSU Trumpet Studio continues a legacy of excellence on and off campus
The OSU Trumpet Studio has advanced to the National Trumpet Competition (NTC) annually for over a decade. NTC is the largest single instrument competition in the world. This year our large ensemble, two undergraduate soloists and an undergraduate jazz soloist will compete against the country's best performers, showcasing the high level of achievement and hard work of the students here at Oklahoma State University. In the last two years, we also advanced to the semifinals of the International Trumpet Guild (ITG) Ryan Anthony Memorial Competition orchestra excerpts division, twice, placing top 15 in the country. Our performances at the NTC and ITG competitions are greatly enhancing the visibility of the strong culture and impressive talent of our studio and increasing the positive reputation of OSU.
Our national presence is enhancing our career success. Our recent graduates earned GTA positions and scholarships to elite graduate programs across the country, placed as band directors across the United States, and are now playing in positions in the Wichita (KS) and Boulder (CO) Symphony Orchestras.
Your gift will ensure that we have the resources to continue to perform outside of our region, helping recruit top-tier students to OSU who are active in the community.

who perform for Veteran's Day assemblies in the Stillwater Public Schools each year
WE GIVE BACK Getting into the community is important to us
Trumpet player Carter Lowry (BME '28) talked to state representatives about the importance of the Arts in our schools
Students enrolled in trumpet choir presented a free masterclass, performance and gave mini-lessons in Owasso
In the last year, studio members served off campus in the greater Oklahoma and North Texas region. We performed Veteran's Day ceremonies in several Stillwater elementary schools, presented a masterclass and performance in Owasso, volunteered time to mentor and work with local middle school band students, performed TAPS for memorial services, and several students regularly mentor young trumpet players in the community. All of this, we provide for FREE as a part of OSU's land grant mission. Your support for our national travel will allow us to continue to use our personal resources to serve others.
With YOUR support we can continue our legacy of excellence on and off campus.
Go Pokes!
Each member of our ensemble had to pay $40 for the entry fee to enter into the National Trumpet Competition.
We have three soloists who also advanced in the competition. They must pay to have a pianist collaborate with them at the competition.
This year our studio members arranged a composition called Hunting Wabbits by Gordon Goodwin. They paid $300 to secure the rights for public performances of their arrangement.
We need three hotel rooms to house the 12 studio members who will be attending the competition in 2025. The conference rate, plus taxes and fees is close to $500 per room for the length of our stay.
We love competing at NTC but we would be thrilled to present our work at the International Trumpet Guild annual conference, too.
It's never too late to start planning for next year! We have advanced to the live round for a decade and anticipate we will be active in the National Trumpet Competition next year, too.
At a recent concert, a patron said "Incredible! I've never heard or seen anything like that!" We would love to show the world how well we can perform.
